Who We Are

Five Star Tamarindo is a successful, thriving family run business, dedicated to providing high caliber experiences and unforgettable luxury vacations to groups of friends and families of all ages. As an active couple, and loving parents to a vibrant 3 year old son, we understand the need to make every moment count, especially when quality time can be limited to a few opportunities a year. We want you to celebrate your happiest moments with us, without having to worry about all of the elements that come along with planning a vacation. Choose the property that perfectly fits you and your guests and let us take care of the rest. From arranging transportation to hiring a private masseuse, with over 13 years of experience in administering properties, more than 15 living in Tamarindo, and a passion for delivering phenomenal service, we can honestly say we are experts at offering tailor made getaways.

Meet Our Team

Mario Quaglino - Operations Manager

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Mario spent much of his adolescents working very hard towards his future goals. After graduating from university, he decided to take a chance and moved to Costa Rica. Following 6 months of learning to surf, he took on the role of logistics coordinator for the World Martial Arts Federation where he spent 4 years traveling back and forth to Italy. With his sights set on establishing himself in Tamarindo, Mario accepted a project manager position for a construction company, carrying out inspections of building contracts and coordinating the contract process from start to finish. With this additional experience and all of his valuable skills to date, he was offered a position as a bookkeeper for one of the largest property management companies in Tamarindo. Acquiring knowledge of how the business was operated opened the doors for him to become the operations manager. Under his new position he was given the responsibility to create a maintenance department, which later grew to encompass the housekeeping and gardening department. With almost 10 years of working for the company, Mario decided it was time to move on and establish a business of his own.    

When Mario isn’t riding his bike and reading stories with his son, you can find him fishing, surfing or capturing special moments with his camera. He loves the fact that Tamarindo has some of the most spectacular sunsets, and that Costa Rica in general has such friendly and inviting people. A highly productive individual, you can always count on Mario to get things done and find a solution to any problem.  

Mario’s recommendations of things to do while you are here: Fishing in either Tamarindo Bay or the surrounding area is a must, followed by surfing the local waves, biking, ATVing, or sailing along the coastline, snorkeling or scuba diving in the Catalina Islands, and definitely trying the great food at the many different restaurants in town.

Natalia Rocha - Reservation Manager

Born and raised in San Jose, Costa Rica, Natalia’s working career began down a very different path than what you see today. Studying at the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, her goal was to become a successful Dental Technician. Once graduated, she spent a few years working in the field in San Jose then moved to the laid back surf town of Tamarindo. Within the first year while at a full moon beach party, Natalia and Mario were introduced through mutual friends. From that day forward, they became inseparable. After 8 years of working as a Dental Technician, she decided to make a drastic change and took on an office role at a property management company. Although her tasks started off quite simple, ranging from maintaining property inventories, to filing invoices and documents, with her warm, welcoming personality and her deep sense of empathy for others, she quickly moved up to take on a more central role in the company’s reservations and customer service department. Years later with the birth of their first child just around the corner, Natalia and Mario decided to take a leap of faith and open up their own property management company.  

In her spare time, Natalia enjoys exercising, reading and watching movies. But nothing is more gratifying than playing and reading with her son. She loves Tamarindo because although it’s still a small town, it has so many great restaurants, outdoor activities and entertainment for everyone. Our local adventure and dining expert, Natalia can design the perfect itinerary to keep your days full of excitement, with just enough relaxation.

Natalia’s recommendations of things to do while you are here: spend a day surfing, or indulging at the spa, relax while sailing in Tamarindo Bay, or get you adrenaline flowing on a zipline, ATV, or hiking tour, but don’t miss watching the gorgeous sunsets, trying fantastic meals at different international restaurants, and of course enjoy a few days at one of the many surrounding beaches.

How 5 Star Began

Our company originated from the need we observed in the property management industry, for a greater focus on personalized service to guests and homeowners. We realized that there was an absence of accessibility and engagement in terms of interactions with management teams and guests, which sometimes left guests feeling abandoned. We created Five Star Tamarindo with this dilemma in mind and vowed to only offer exceptional class experiences. With the support of family, friends and the homeowners who had witnessed our commitment to excellence, we began our journey together. Our business grew through the word of mouth referrals of ecstatic guests who fell in love not only with our properties, but more importantly the manner in which we conducted ourselves. With our sights set on managing only the most prestigious properties, we offer 10 of the finest in Tamarindo, and have 12 amazing staff members who service them.
